Mid-Credits Scene: Enter Metal Sonic
After Shadow’s heroic sacrifice to stop Gerald Robotnik’s (Jim Carrey) apocalyptic scheme, Sonic (voiced by Ben Schwartz) celebrates with a high-speed race. But his fun takes a dark turn in the mid-credits scene when he stumbles into an unfamiliar forest. Suddenly, he’s ambushed by an army of Metal Sonics.
Metal Sonic, introduced in 1993’s Sonic CD, is a fearsome android designed by Dr. Robotnik to mimic Sonic’s abilities. The metallic doppelgangers overwhelm Sonic, showcasing their precision and strength. Just when all seems lost, a mysterious hooded figure appears to save the day.
Amy Rose Unveiled
The hooded figure reveals herself as none other than Amy Rose, another beloved character from Sonic CD. Armed with her iconic Piko Piko Hammer, Amy quickly dismantles the Metal Sonic threat. Though she doesn’t speak in this scene, her energetic and fiercely loyal personality from the games suggests she’ll add a unique dynamic to Team Sonic in future installments.
Amy Rose is well-known in the Sega universe for her unrequited love for Sonic. While Sonic rarely reciprocates her affection, their interactions are expected to bring plenty of humor and heart to the next chapter.
Post-Credits Scene: Shadow’s Resurrection
The post-credits scene delivers a surprise for fans of Shadow (voiced by Keanu Reeves), who was thought to have perished earlier in the film. The scene pans to what appears to be a meteor crash site. As the dust settles, we see Shadow’s distinctive hands gripping the gold ringlets from his wrists, signaling his return.
